SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN (WKZO) -- With forecasts for ambient temperatures in the triple digits and heat indexes higher than that, The National weather Service.has issued an excessive heat warning thru Friday for the entire 8 county southwest Michigan area and the rest of southern Michigan including Kalamazoo and Calhoun Counties.

That means seniors are particularly vulnerable, especially to the cumulative effects of the heat, and the danger builds as the days pass, each one hotter than the last. Bob Littke, the director of Senior Services in Kalamazoo says they have about 10,000 clients they check on regularly when the temperatures soar. He says if you have an elderly neighbor or relative, you will want to check on them too.
