ATLANTA, GA (1660 THE FAN) – The Braves reached double digits Tuesday night to end Chicago’s win streak at 4 with a 10-3 win over the Cubs.
Chipper Jones singled in a run in the first. The veteran third baseman finished the night 5-for-5 at the plate with four RBI’s.
The Cubs had the lead briefly in third, scoring all three runs in the frame. Starlin Castro reached on a throwing error, scoring David DeJesus to tie the game. With two outs, Brian LaHair lined a ball to right to drive Castro home. The final run for Chicago came on the next play when Starlin Castro was driven in by a Steve Clevenger RBI line drive.
Cubs’ starter Chris Volstad remains winless this year. He lasted a mere 4.1 innings, giving up six earned runs on seven hits including a homerun.
