BATTLE CREEK -- Fire officials in Battle Creek say a woman died as a result of a home fire this morning at 42 Willow Street.  

Two of the three occupants were taken to the hospital suffering from smoke inhalation and 23-year-old Allison  Franklin was pronounced dead at the hospital.  

A man tentatively identified as Eddie Springer is also being treated. Investigators say there were smoke detectors in the home, but they were not working.

They are still trying to determine the cause of the 1:30am fire but they suspect it was accidental, perhaps a kitchen fire at this point.
