KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- William Wright will be tried for the attempted murder of a county deputy.
For a few hours earlier this month, he was the most wanted man in Kalamazoo County after police put out an all points bulletin that they were looking for Wright and his brother, Christopher, after two shots were fired at Kalamazoo County Deputy Jeff Nichols during a routine traffic stop.
Even though William waived exam Tuesday, Christopher testified that he tried to take the gun away from his brother, a gun he did not initially know was in the cab of the pickup.
In exchange for his testimony, Christopher will plead to resisting, but be released on time served and on probation.
A separate hearing on that deal will be held next week.
A tenth charge, being a felon in possession of a gun was added to the list that William Wright will face at trial.
Wright’s girlfriend, Jessica Carpenter, who is charged with being an accessory after the fact, also waived preliminary exam and will go to trial.
Police are still looking for Dominque Castle, the third man in the truck.
