CALHOUN COUNTY (WKZO) -- A Springfield Public Safety officer may have made some career threatening choices after getting drunk at a strip club and trying to drive home intoxicated.
The off-duty 27-year-old left Hots in Emmett Township early Sunday morning, backing into a pickup truck and leaving the scene. The owner of the pickup truck followed him, dialing 9-1-1 and watched him crash into a power pole on Verona Road and then wander into a field.
Emmett Township officers used a K-9 to track him down. They recognized him as a fellow officer when they finally found him lying down on a pile of brush.
Investigators are waiting for the results of a blood alcohol test before seeking charges. Springfield officials are refusing to comment.
The officer is on leave for now.
