KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Minnesota-Duluth took advantage of a 5 on 3 advantage to escape from the first of two games at Lawson Ice Arena, 4-1.

The Broncos opened the scoring in the first period on Chase Basily's sixth goal of the year. Minnesota-Duluth tied the game in the second on a power play goal. The third period belonged to the Bulldogs, showing off why they are the number 1 team in the country.

Brett Bebe and Luke Witkowski were whistled for 2-minute minors at the 10:21 and 10:49 marks in the third respectively. That advantage made the difference in the game as the Bulldogs opened up the scoring, including an empty net goal with time winding down.

These two teams meet at Lawson again tomorrow night. Broadcast time is 6:30 pm on 96.5 WKZO and WKZO.com
