KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- A Kalamazoo woman who was the source of a bottle of Vodka that ended up sending a 14-year-old girl from Portage to the hospital says she had no idea of the consequences when she gave her teenaged son the bottle.
Court documents show that the woman was issued a misdemeanor citation for providing alcohol to a minor. It became the liquid refreshment at a small New Years eve gathering at a home on Corstange in Portage.
The 14-year-old who passed out had been doing shots from the bottle. The parents of the two children hosting the gathering came home to find her covered in vomit and passed out.
She is now home after spending 24 hours in the hospital for treatment for alcohol poisoning. The suspect was already on a tether after her third drunk driving arrest last summer. Now she has new legal problems.
