LOS ANGELES (WKZO) -- Police there have arrested a German national, 24-year-old Harry Burkhart for as many as 55 fires started in carports and garages over the past week. He apparently was upset that the U.S. Government is trying to deport his mother.
Skylar Stone, a Portage Central High School grad who is now a Comedian and actor in Los Angeles claimed on a twitter that they told police about a man his girlfriend said was acting suspiciously just before one of the fires broke out near his home, and that the man was taken into custody as a “person of interest” near Sunset and Fairfax.
L.A. Fire Department Spokesman Jaime Moore is giving a different account of the arrest, that a Rookie Police officer spotted their suspect and made the bust. But they also say the suspect was arrested near Sunset and Fairfax. They estimate the damage caused by the fires at over $2-million, and while there were a few injuries, there were no deaths.
