KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Picking a presidential preference for the Republican Party is the main issue for most voters in Michigan's primary, but there are other matters on some local ballots.
One of the most contested issues is whether to rezone land in South Haven for a new Meijer store. The city council approved the rezoning last year, but opponents who fear it could destroy small businesses in town collected enough signatures to force a vote on the rezoning.
Voters in the City of Galesburg will fill a vacancy on their city council left by a resignation. Marvin Horn and Keith Diller are vying for the empty seat.
Climax-Scotts and Delton Kellogg Schools are seeking renewal of their non-homestead millage questions. It would renew additional property taxes on rental properties and second homes.
