KALAMAZOO (WKZO) – Senior Maria Iquaniello recorded 12 points and 9 rebounds in 39 minutes in her final game at University Arena. It would not be enough for the lady Broncos to get passed their arch-rival Central Michigan, they fell 66-53.

Robin Giden scored 7 points in 18 minutes of play in her home finale for Western. No other Bronco shooter had more than 7 points for the game. The Broncos shot 30.8% from the floor, 64.3% from the free-throw line, but 23 Western turnovers compared to 13 for the Chippewas was too much to overcome.

Central Michigan boasted 4 shooters in double figures. Jessica Green led the charge with 16 points in 36 minutes for the Chips. Central hit 15 of 19 free throws, and finished shooting 33.8% from the floor. CMU finished the regular season sweep of Western Michigan, winning their January 11th  matchup in Mount Pleasant.

With the loss, Western Michigan does not qualify to host one of the opening-round MAC tournament games next weekend. The Broncos wrap up their regular season on the road at Northern Illinois on Tuesday.
