BANGOR (WKZO) -- Officials in Bangor are still looking at their options when it comes to the local police force. This week, the city council voted to seek bids for three possible solutions to the department's lack of a proper facility. City Manager Michael Selden tells us that since the current one was damaged by a fire, there's been talk of simply disbanding the police force and contracting with the Van Buren County Sheriffs Department for protection. However, council members are checking one more time to see what the costs might be for another solution. He says that any of the options they are reviewing could end up costing north of 200 thousand dollars. The bids should come in next month, and the city council will hold some public meetings after that to see what citizens think.
