KALAMAZOO (WKZO) – Congressman Fred Upton visited the WKZO studios Wednesday for an appearance on The Trifecta. Little did Congressman Upton know he would be faced with questions of the third kind.
Among politically topical discussions, (including high gas prices, Solyndra, and the Keystone pipeline) an offbeat question was posed to the Congressman.
During a discussion regarding national security, Trifecta co-host Sean Patrick asked Upton, “Do we have any alien invasion strategies in place?” Chuckling, Upton replied, “I can tell you, on scout's honor, I have had many classified meetings, and none of them include an alien invasion plan. So the answer is ‘no’.” According to Upton, because there is no publicly documented history of extraterrestrial visitors to Earth, it would be difficult for the United States to formulate a “plan” to deal with an alien invasion.
Should the lack of any plan-- or, at least, a plan known to the public-- be cause for concern in the event of an alien invasion?
