KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Colder temperatures are quickly on the move towards West Michigan. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory in effect until 10 PM this evening.
The snow has already developed across the advisory area as of 11 AM mainly falling north of the I-94 corridor. The heaviest snow is expected to occur between 3 PM and 9 PM with visibilities on the roads below one mile.
Meteorologists are reporting an estimated 1 to 3 inches of new snow will freeze on the roads tonight, impacting the evening commute. The NWS is cautioning drivers to be aware of slide offs.
The wind chill is expected to quickly drop to a low zero causing the possibility for frost bite throughout the night.
The cold front is expected hang on through the weekend, but will start to lose its grip by late Tuesday to early Wednesday.
