KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- It took all day Tuesday, but a jury has been seated to hear the murder case against Besham Sugrim, charged with the cold case murder of Linda Gibson.
Opening statements will come this morning, barring any last minute motions or delays. Sugrim is charged with the brutal beating and stabbing death of Linda Gibson in 2003.
Sugrim allegedly confessed the crime to his wife at the time, but she claims she was too scared for her own safety and the safety of her children to come forward until last year, when Sugrim was jailed for beating their daughter. Finally out of his reach, she told her story to police.
There are reports they recovered a knife from a burn pit in the back yard of the Edison Neighborhood home where they were living at the time.
There are dozens of witnesses and it could be a long trial.
Sugrim is also suspected in a shooting death in New York State from 1995.
