LANSING (WKZO) -- Legislation that would increase the number of on-line charter schools in the state heads to the full House.

A Republican-led House committee has approved the bill by a vote of ten-to-eight along mostly party lines.  There are currently two cyber-charter schools in the state with an enrollment of approximately 14-hundred students.

Opponents of the bill say they are concerned about the track records of those those schools.  Supporters say that expanding the number of cyber-schools supports a trend of using more technology in education.

A version of this legislation was already passed by the Senate.
