INDIANAPOLIS (WKZO) -- Indiana has become the first "right-to-work" state in the upper midwest, but not without a lot of anger, divisiveness and protests.
Soon after the Senate approved the bill, Governor Mitch Daniels signed it and 20,000 protestors spontaneously appeared at the Capitol.
They then marched to the Super Bowl village where threats were made that there could be protests and attempts to disrupt the big game.
The law takes effect immediately.
What are the chances of Michigan following Indiana’s lead?
Some Michigan Republicans have been pressuring Governor Snyder to get behind a right to work bill in Michigan but he wants nothing to do with it, reiterating during congressional testimony yesterday that it would just bring everything to a grinding halt in Lansing.
Kalamazoo Democrat, County Board Vice Chair and union member Dave Buskirk said it’s a question of workers paying their fair share.
Senate Leader Randy Richardville said last week that he doubts that Right to Work would bring the kind of benefits its supporters promise.
