Ann Arbor, MI (WKZO) – With victories over Eastern and Western Michigan earlier this season, the Michigan Wolverines completed the sweep of directional Michigan schools on Saturday night, with an 88-73 victory over Central Michigan.
Trey Burke recorded a double-double with 22 points and 11 assists to lead the Wolverines, who are now 13-0. Michigan successfully completed their non-conference schedule with an undefeated record. The Wolverines 13 straight victories to open the season are the second longest streak in Maize and Blue history. Only the 1985-86 team had a longer streak, winning their first 16 games.
Tim Hardaway Jr. sat out the contest with an injured right ankle as Caris LeVert made his first career start as a Wolverine. In place of Hardaway, LeVert finished with 9 points and 5 assists.
Freshmen Glenn Robinson III and Nik Stauskas scored 20 and 19 respectively.
The Wolverines outscored the Chips 46-29 in the first half.
Olivier Mbaigoto scored 14 to lead Central Michigan
Hardaway Jr. should return to action for the Wolverines next game, January 3rd at Northwestern.
