Western Michigan will face Michigan State in the 48th Annual Great Lakes Invitational that has been moved to Joe Louis Arena in the wake of cancellation of the 2013 Winter Classic

DETROIT (WKZO) -- For the first time in 26 years Western Michigan will compete in the Great Lakes Invitational.  In that appearance in 1986 the Broncos beat Michigan State 7-3, and Michigan 8-2.

The Broncos face off against the Michigan State Spartans in their first game at 3:30 and will play either MIchigan or Michigan Tech tomorrow depending on the results.  MSU leads the overall series between the teams at 64-29-8 but Western Michigan has been hot as of late, winning six of their past seven games.
