HOLLAND (WHTC) - A 30-year-old man who allegedly led police in Zeeland and Holland on a high-speed chase Christmas Eve is facing five criminal charges, including fleeing and eluding and driving with a suspended license. Melvin Quincy Swann is being held in the Ottawa County jail on 15-thousand dollars bond after being arraigned in 58^th District Court Wednesday. Police say they tried to pull Swann over on Chicago Drive near 120^th Avenue Monday afternoon, and he took off at a high rate of speed. The chase went through several side streets in Holland’s central city and ended with Swann crashing his car into a tree at 17^th Street and Harrison. State records show Swann was wanted as a parole absconder and has a prior history of fleeing and eluding an officer from Kalamazoo County, and he also has prior convictions for home invasion and larceny. His next court appearance is scheduled for next Wednesday in 58^th District Court.
