A new poll conducted by the staff at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital at the University of Michigan shows about 3 out of 4 parents think their kids are going deaf from listening to loud music, and they should be tested.

Dr. Jaynee Handelsman, the director of Pediatric Audiology says hearing screenings for the young are fairly uncommon but not a bad idea.

They could suffer in the classroom if they can’t hear. She says hearing loss isn’t the kind of injury that the victim is always aware is happening to them.
