CASS COUNTY (WKZO) -- Deputies are investigating a car/pedestrian accident that left 42-year-old Lori Wilkes of Jones in serious but stable condition with multiple injuries in a South Bend Hospital.

The police report says she was walking in the roadway on U.S. 12 Christmas Eve near Union Road when a 68-year-old driver from Constantine struck her with his car.

The preliminary investigation found that driver Franklin Strawser did not appear to be drunk or speeding+ at about 6:30 Monday evening when the crash occurred. The investigation remains open pending test results.
