KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo Public Safety is doing directed patrols in areas of town that might be more vulnerable to the type of Grinches who like to steal Christmas, or at least get into your place and steal your stuff while you are away for the holidays.

It’s particularly true of student neighborhoods where the entire population of a street or an apartment complex could be away for a week or two.

If you are heading out for the holidays today, leave your outside lights on, try to make the place look like someone is still living in it, by leaving a few lights and maybe a radio on inside. Make sure all your windows and doors are locked.
