No White Christmas but it's close, sort of a frosted landscape for the holiday.

KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Northern Michigan has snow, and the state’s to the south are about to see snow. We have been glazed over and it should stick, making it easier for Santa to land his Sleigh over night.   WMU Meteorologist Robert Ruhf says there should be alot more of that in the months ahead.

He says he expects a typical winter for southwest Michigan, when it’s all over, because there are no La Nina’s or El Nino’s this year. A normal weather pattern in the Pacific Ocean usually translates into a normal pattern in the upper Midwest.

He says chances of getting another record warm winter are slim to none. Last winter we didn’t see any arctic cold fronts move through because of the placement of the jet stream.

He says we won’t be that lucky this winter. He says if we are going to get our typical 70-inches of snow, it will have to be a really snowy January and February to make up for the lack of snow this November and December.
