East Lansing, MI (WKZO) – Behind Derrick Nix season high 25 points, #20 Michigan State Spartans rallied back from a five point halftime deficit to take down the Texas Longhorns 67-56 Saturday Afternoon at the Breslin Center.
Michigan State trailed 33-28 at the break, but scored the first eight points of the 2nd half to take the lead, and eventually increased their lead to 10 points, 54-44 with 9:13 remaining.
Texas fought back, decreasing the Spartans lead to two at 56-54 but could only score two more points the final 4:45 of the game.
Nix also recorded a game high 11 rebounds for his 2nd double-double on the season.
Keith Appling and Adreian Payne each finished in double figures for the Spartans (11-2), who have now won six in a row.
Julien Lewis finished with 16 points topping the scoring charts for the Longhorns (7-5)
The Spartans are off until December 31st when they open Big Ten Play against #13 Minnesota.
