ST. IGNACE (WKZO) -- Commuter tolls to cross the Mackinac Bridge are going up on January 1st. The increase is part of a long-term plan to implement incremental increases regularly to fund a maintenance and preservation program. That will include a complete deck replacement project within the next ten years.
Commuter toll rates go up to two-dollars and ten cents per crossing provided commuter card holders come back across within 36-hours. All other toll rates for bridge traffic will stay the same. The 55-year-old Mackinac Bridge is maintained and operated exclusively with toll revenue.
