Michigan State pulls away towards end, defeats Bowling Green 64-53

Bowling Green, OH (WKZO) – Freshmen Gary Harris and Danzel Valentine each scored 12 points to lead Michigan State to a 64-53 victory over upset minded Bowling Green Tuesday Night.

Braden Dawson also finished in double figures for the Spartans, who have now won five games in a row, improving their record to 10-2.

Bowling Green saw themselves with the lead for parts of the 1st half, including a 21-17 advantage with less than six minutes remaining.  However, the Spartans bounced back with a 17-8 run to take a four point lead at the end of the first 20 minutes.

After the break, the Falcons chipped away at the Spartans lead and regained the lead briefly after Chauncey Orr drilled a 3 pointer, giving BG the lead 41-40 with ten minutes remaining. MSU rallied from that point and Harris capped off the game for the Spartans with a thunderous sideline dunk to put MSU up nine with just under 90 seconds remaining.

Orr finished with a game high 16 points for the Falcons (5-5).

The Spartans are off until Saturday when the Texas Longhorns pay a visit to East Lansing. Tip-off is set for 2pm
