Former Detroit Mayor Kilpatrick millions of dollars in debt

DETROIT (WKZO) -- Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick says he's over one-million dollars in debt.

According to prison records and emails obtained by the "Detroit News," Kilpatrick is roughly 1.8-million dollars in debt and has an overdrawn bank account.  State officials began questioning the former mayor's finances on December 11th after he made a late restitution payment in November.

Kilpatrick still owes the City of Detroit over 855-thousand dollars and his only means of income is through speaking engagements.
