BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) -- 22-year-old Richard Wyrick claimed he fell asleep in the Family Unit Convenience store on Territorial Road near Battle Creek Sunday night and was trapped inside. Police say Wyrick broke in through a vent in the side of the building, planning to rob the place and couldn’t get out. They found his coat and shoes outside under the vent.
Wyrick has been charged with breaking and entering and ordered held on five-thousand dollars bond. They said he was trying to steal alcohol, cigarettes, and lottery tickets. The owners and police showed up around 3 a.m. Monday when Wyrick allegedly tried to leave through the front door, triggering an alarm.
