BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) -- Battle Creek Police say a Bellevue man shot earlier this month while attempting to rob the Liberty Mart Convenience store has died.  Authorities were notified around 5:20 a.m. Wednesday that 26-year old Michael Honyoust had passed away at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.

Police say Honyoust was brandishing a knife when he walked into the store on Capital Avenue Northeast on the afternoon of December Third.  However, an employee, 39-year old Pardeep Singh, had a handgun behind the counter and he used it to shoot Honyoust twice.

Singh’s actions have been under review by the Prosecutor’s office.  Officials say Honyoust had been on parole for a home invasion and arson in Midland County.
