KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- To help close a gap in their budget, Downtown Kalamazoo officials are considering rate hikes for some parking facilities and extending parking fees until midnight in most downtown parking facilities.
The proposal from the parking committee is to start charging a flat three dollars to park from 9 to midnight weekdays and from 10-12AM on weekends. Those time periods are currently free.
They also plan to increase fees a nickel an hour in most of their parking ramps and lots. It will be presented to the DDA board on Monday and would take effect early next year if approved.
