KALAMAZOO COUNTY (WKZO) -- Two Kalamazoo area parks have just won the jackpot. River Oaks Park near Galesburg and Flesher Field in Oshtemo have both been chosen by the state’s Natural Resource Trust fund for to receive 300-thousand dollars each for improvements, upgrades and repairs.
Oshtemo Township Supervisor Libby Heiny Cogswell says it’s a pretty nice Christmas present.
She says they will move the parking lot, add a running track and make other improvements.Rivers Oaks Park will get a new picnic area with a more accessible playground and paths, a splash pad and parking lot improvements.
The money, which comes from oil-drilling and leasing fees on public land, still has to be approved by the legislature, but that’s considered a formality.
