PAW PAW (WKZO) -- Van Buren County Sheriff's deputies made a drug bust Thursday afternoon on I-94 in Paw Paw.

Deputies pulled over a vehicle when the spotted a passenger not properly wearing his seatbelt.  They smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle and both the driver and the passenger from Detroit denied involvement in any illegal activity.

A K9 was called in and they found evidence there could be drugs in the vehicle.  A search turned up marijuana and over three-thousand dollars in cash.

The money was seized under drug forfeiture laws and the driver was arrested.  The passenger was released pending a further investigation.
