LANSING (WKZO) -- The state Senate has repealed the personal property tax for manufacturers in the state.
The Senate made some minor changes to the 12-bill package that had been passed last week by the House before voting 23-to-14 in favor of the measure Wednesday. The revised package is expected to be approved by the House and then head to the governor for his signature.
Under the law, the tax would start to be phased out over a ten year period beginning in 2013. Opponents are concerned, in part, over the fact that there is no solid plan to replace the revenue.
