LAWRENCE (WKZO) -- A routine traffic stop for an equipment violation turned out to be much more, and now a 41-year-old Lawrence woman will face criminal drug charges this coming week.
Van Buren County Deputies say one thing led to another as they discovered that her driver’s license had been suspended because of a previous drunk driving arrest. They searched the car and found an open intoxicant. Further search turned up an active meth lab cooking away inside a back pack in the back seat.
They arrested her on alcohol and drug charges and for driving on a suspended license. They plan to turn the evidence over to the Prosecutor’s office for formal charges.
