PAW PAW (WKZO) -- State Police think they have cracked a cold case murder in Van Buren County, and it may be cold comfort for the family of the victim that the suspect has spent the last nine years in prison for another crime.
Michigan State Police say a reluctant witness has come forward and identified 33-year-old Ray Barry as the man who bludgeoned and stabbed 19-year-old Christopher Green to death along 60th Street on December 9th, 2002. His body was found in a ditch near by.
The motive for the killing, if they have one, has not been released.
Barry is serving time for a 2003 unarmed robbery in Kalamazoo and was due soon to be released for time served. If convicted of the murder, he could be sentenced to stay in prison for the rest of his life.
