KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo City Manager Ken Collard presented his proposed 2013 Kalamazoo City budget plan to city commissioners Monday evening. It didn't take long because the city is operating on a five-year plan to greatly reduce their workforce and bring their costs into line with their revenue.
Collard says there won’t be any tax hikes, but there will be a sizable reduction in manpower and that will mean it may take the city longer to get some jobs done. He says they will have about nine-percent less revenue to spend in 2013 with the general fund budget coming in at about 50-million and the total spending plan at 144-million dollars.
