KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The Broncos completed their sweep of the Wildcats with a 1-0 win Saturday. The Broncos were all over the Wildcats through the first period. Western outshot Northern 15-2, but we're unable to find the back of the net despite several good chances. The Wildcats seemed more keen on laying out some Broncos, than trying to score which led to a CJ Ludwig 10 minute game misconduct. The second period was full of big hits and penalties to match. There were six calls in the period but no goals on the man advantage for either team. Western finally got on the board thanks to a Trevor Elias goal just 5:36 into the second period shortly after a Northern penalty expired. The Northern offense was able to get a few more shots on net in the period but were still outshot 13-9 by the Broncos. Western seemed to move to more of a defensive stance in the third period which really slowed down the game. Bronco goaltender Frank Slubowski was able to turn away all 23 shots from Northern sealing the 1-0 victory. WMU will take on Ferris on Friday.
