WASHINGTON D.C. (WKZO) -- Michigan has gained a little more clout in the halls of Congress with the announcement by Republican House Speaker John Boehner that Congresswoman Candice Miller of Michigan will head up the House Administration Committee.
In a statement, Boehner says Miller's previous experience as Michigan's Secretary of State will be helpful given the committee's oversight of campaign finance and election laws.Boehner has been facing criticism from some in Washington that all his chairmanships went to white males.
Currently, Miller is the only Republican woman expected to head a House committee when the new Congress convenes in January.
She becomes the fourth Michigan Representative to get a Chairmanship. Fred Upton will continue to chair Commerce, Bill Rogers will stay on as Chair of the Intelligence Committee and Dave Camp will lead Ways and Means. Only Texas has as many Chairmanships.
