HAMTRAMCK (WKZO) -- Production of the Chevrolet Volt will be stopped for approximately four weeks as General Motors will close the Hamtramck Assembly Plant in mid-September.
The automaker will be retooling the facility for production of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala. General Motors has halted work at the plant twice before due to slow sales of the Volt. Sales for August are expected to be released next week and will reportedly show over 22-hundred Volts were sold last month.
Around 15-hundred workers will be off the job from September 17th through October 15th.
