HASTINGS (WKZO) -- A 24-year-old Portland man is sitting in the Barry County Jail probably wondering what he was thinking when he got drunk and went on a rampage. He apparently wanted to avenge some long forgotten grudge early Friday Morning.

Both the suspect and the victim attended a bonfire at a home on Charlton Drive near Thornapple Lake in Barry County. The 48-year old victim returned to his Hastings home and the suspect, drunk and angry, followed him in an ATV, grabbing a kitchen knife and threatening to hurt the older victim, because of this old grudge.

He left, and a while later, returned, crashing his ATV into the victim’s vehicle and ransacking the home, stealing a gaming system and leaving, while the victim hid outside.He is charged with assault, larceny, driving drunk, not reporting a crash, and driving on a suspended license.
