In the Walking Dead video game you play a character named Lee Everett. You’re forced to make tough decisions in a zombie filled world and these decisions directly impact your game play. Based on these choices, different characters will survive or die. You could also end up making enemies or friends depending on your quick responses. I’ll go over the pros and cons of this rpg/adventure/puzzle type game and give you my overall opinion.
To start with the pros, this game has you thinking…what if I had done this…what if I had chosen that? Since the game launched I’ve replayed it several times in order to get the full effect of the choices you can make. This game is defiantly re-playable. The graphics can have a bit of a cartoony feel, but in all honesty it looks great. Another fantastic thing about this game is that it’s available for PC, PS3, and XBOX 360. Also, the price is $24.99 which nowadays is a great deal for a game. The best feature of this game is the storyline. You will get entrenched! Several times you’ll find yourself caring about characters and get concerned with their motives, thoughts, and ideas.
Here come the cons! This game isn’t for everyone, it’s not an action packed first person shooter (FPS). It’s a slower game where you sometimes do tedious objectives like putting batteries in a radio, or putting a swing together. It’s worth it to keep pushing past these small things to continue the story, but if you don’t have any patience…it may not be for you. The 100% worst thing about this game is that it’s released into 5 episodes. Although you can pay for the whole “season” of episodes up front, the wait is horrible. The 2nd episode of the game took around 2 months to be released (we were told one episode would be released each month).
If you have the patience, a sense of adventure, and love the Walking Dead show, then I believe you would like this game. Are you someone looking to go trigger happy…keep looking because this one isn’t for you. I’d say if you’re a fan of the show buy the game, but wait for all of the episodes to come out so you don’t torture yourself checking the updates every day.
