KALAMAZOO ( WKZO) -- UPDATE: We have now learned the names of the two men who were booked this weekend in the County Jail on Open Murder Chargdes, and are expected to be formally charged on Monday with the murder of Antiques Dealer Robert Medema.
21-year-old Antonio Livingston and 52-year-old John Aguilar were apparently taken into custody on Friday.
Public Safety officials say that robbery was the motive for the home invasion that resulted in the death of the 74-year-old Kalamazoo businessman.
They say that the two knew of Medema and targeted him for the robbery, but they aren’t saying how or why it resulted in his death. That will all likely be revealed as the prosecution proceeds.
Asst. Chief Brian Uridge says that the release of information about a pair of Air Jordan Eights found near the murder scene produced pivotal tips to Silent Obserber that resulted in the identification of the suspects. It may also mean that someone has reward money coming.
