Arlington, TX ( 1660 The Fan) – Josh Hamilton drove in three runs, and blasted his 32nd homerun of the season as the Texas Rangers overpowered the Tigers 8-3, to take the series finale Sunday afternoon.
Yu Darvish picked up his 12th win on the season for the Rangers, after tossing six and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs, striking out either and walking five. Darvish now has three wins against the Tigers, who lost the season series with the Rangers 6-3.
Rick Porcello struggled out of the gate, giving up runs in three of the first four innings on his way to his seventh loss of the season.
Miguel Cabrera had two hits, including a two-run double. Hamilton now leads Cabrera in the race for the AL lead in RBIs, 99-98.
The Tigers are now two games behind the Chicago White Sox for the AL Central Division lead and one game out of the wild card.
Detroit now heads to Minnesota to take on the Twins for three games starting Monday night. Anibal Sanchez takes the mound in the opener. Game time is set for 8:05pm.
