KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo City Commissioners will take their first look at a proposed ordinance change Monday Night that would allow food trucks to set up shop in restricted locations around the community.
The mobile kitchens that usually specialize in a limited menu, are popular and can fill a niche in the community, serving markets where there currently are no brick and mortar restaurants.
The City has been working with downtown officials and restaurant owners for 9 months to draft a proposed ordinance that would phase in the trucks, with ten licenses issued their first year..
The Commission will accept it for first reading Monday night and if it passes muster, could vote on it during their second meeting in August.
