KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Fire investigators in Kalamazoo are looking for the cause of a house fire in the 4000-block of Madison that killed its occupant early Saturday morning. It’s believed the fire had been burning for a while before anyone reported it.
The first Public Safety Officers to arrive found flames shooting from the windows and the roof and the house totally engulfed in flames, about 1:30 Saturday morning. It took several hours to put out the fire. The body of the 64-year-old occupant was found in the basement. They will need to compare dental records to verify his identity. The home is a total loss.
The fire is not considered suspicious at this point.
