KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- In past years it was the Tea Party that rallied the troops on tax day, holding demonstrations and protests at Post Offices and Federal buildings to complain about being taxed. This year a coalition of liberal groups organized under the umbrella name, “99% Spring”, held protests and demonstrations at 350 post offices around the Nation.
Kalamazoo City Commissioner Don Cooney attended the one at the Westwood Post Office last night inKalamazoo. Their goal was to protest tax dodging by major corporations and to complain that too many of our tax dollars are spent on the Pentagon and not enough on people.
They handed out flyers and had spirited talks with tax procrastinators.
The most creative protest by the group was a mock baseball team decked out in Tax Dodger uniforms, led by a guy dressed like a Baseball Mitt, and cheered on by a group of Cheerleaders called the Loopholes.
They appeared outside Trump Tower where 'The Donald' was throwing a birthday party for Mitt Romney’s wife, Anne.
