GRAND HAVEN (WKZO) -- The recent stranding of a commercial ship along the coast of Lake Michigan is drawing attention to state and federal funding cuts for dredging harbors.  Thomas O'Bryan with the Army Corps of Engineers says the tanker Invincible hit a sand bar that should have been dredged.

There were no injuries in the grounding, but O'Bryan says his department is only getting what he calls the bare minimum in funding for dredging ports like Grand Haven.  He adds the nearby port of Holland is closed to commercial shipping until dredging is completed later this spring.
