SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) - A West Bend woman has been charged with felony theft after allegedly stealing over $10,000 from her employer over the course of several years. 28 year old Maria Labarbera, former branch manager for Springleaf Financial Services of Sheboygan, was formally charged Thursday in Sheboygan County Court after her employer reported the theft to the Police Department in August. According to the criminal complaint, Labarbera used company checks to pay her own credit card bills because she was living beyond her means and that her mother kept asking her for money to fuel her gambling habit, and she couldn't say no to her mother. She admitted to embezzling the money and said in the written complaint that this was one of the biggest mistakes of her life. If convicted, she's facing up to 10 years in prison.
