DORR (WKZO) -- Allegan County deputies were literally beating the bushes after a burglar went on a crime spree, breaking into vehicles and garages and stealing everything that wasn’t bolted down in a neighborhood near Dorr.

The first complaint came in at about 5:30am according to Lt. Scott Mattice, and then more calls started to come in as others realized they had been robbed. One of the callers said he had confronted the suspect in his neighbor’s driveway.

It was that victim who gave deputies a description of his car. They tracked him down and made the arrest.

The 19-year-old told police he took so much stuff from over a dozen homes that he couldn’t carry it all and had to deposit it in hiding places throughout the area.  He planned to come back and get it later.

K-9’s helped deputies sniff out tools, sports gear and electronics hidden in bushes and fields around the homes.

The suspect was due in court Wednesday to face formal charges.
