KANSAS CITY, MO (WKZO) - At some point in time, Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski might explain what he saw in P Brad Penny when he signed Penny as a free agent. Until then, Tigers fans will continue to scratch their heads and bemoan Penny's lack of contribution to this year's division title effort. Penny gave up 10 hits and 7 earned runs in just four innings, as Kansas City pounded Detroit 10-2 Tuesday. The short series concludes Wednesday night, as Max Scherzer will start for Detroit. Tigers manager Jim Leyland stated that 1B Miguel Cabrera will not play in Wednesday's game. Leyland also said before Tuesday's game that he will be working several members of the Tigers' bullpen in order to help determine the playoff roster.
